HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Governor Tom Wolf announced Friday the latest departure from his cabinet – Labor & Industry Secretary Kathy Manderino.

Wolf says Manderino will join the state’s Gaming Control Board starting August 1, 2017.

In making the announcement Wolf said “Throughout her career, from her service in the state legislature to working in the private sector or leading the Department of Labor and Industry, Kathy has always served with distinction for the people of Pennsylvania.”

Wolf pointed to several accomplishments during Manderino’s tenure including improving claims filing for unemployment insurance, increased enforcement of safety provisions to protect patients and workers and increased vocational rehabilitation services.

Before being appointed Secretary in 2015, Manderino was the campaign manager of The Campaign for Fair Education Funding. She was also a State Representative for the 194th district in Philadelphia and Montgomery counties for 19 years.

Wolf named Robert O’Brien acting secretary.
