SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Members of a non-profit organization that empowers our nation’s wounded veterans are showing their support for law enforcement officers.

Operation Enduring Warrior held its first City Ruck Tour in Lackawanna County on Thursday.

They carried flags in their hands, ruck sacks on their backs, and fallen brothers and sisters in their hearts.

Retired Army Staff Sergeant Earl Granville volunteers for the non-profit organization.

He invited law enforcement officers to join Operation Enduring Warrior on a seven-mile trek around the Electric City and surrounding area.

They started their journey at a memorial at Nay Aug Park and stopped along the route to remember the ones who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

“Earl’s passion for these types of events is infectious,” said Lindsey Riddell.  “He definitely brings people together, and we’re happy to follow his lead!”

The ruck tour ended at the Scranton Police Department, a tribute to fallen officer John Wilding, who lost his life in the line of duty in 2015.
