LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)  The intersection of Meredith and Electric Street in Carbondale Township–just off the Casey Highway.

This is where police say Christopher Sosa wrecked and abandoned his motorcycle just before 9:00 AM.

Police were chasing the 32-year-old after he refused to stop for Carbondale police.

When Sosa ditched his bike  — Carbondale police officer David Fofi was hurt.

“The subject on the motorcycle wrecked. He attempted to flee from the scene. A responding officer slid into one of the first units on scene and an officer was hit” Said Shane Scanlon, Lackawanna County DA

Investigators say Officer Fofi was standing outside his cruiser when he was hit by his fellow officer.

Based on skid marks on the ground, state police are now looking into how and why that second cruiser hit Officer Fofi.

“Fortunately, the officers injuries are not life threatening. He was alert, awake and able to communicate” said Scanlon

After the wreck here, officers think the suspect actually went down the embankment and was on the run for just about an hour”

Police officers from across Lackawanna County searched the woods near the crash scene.

Sosa was eventually arrested about a mile away on Hickory Street in Mayfield.

A state police K9 tracked him to this area and he was found hiding in the back of a pick-up truck.

“The dogs led us to this area. He kept tracking back to this way so we kind of felt that he may have been in this area” said Officer Jamie Trently

The Lackawanna County DA’s office and Carbondale police are in the process of preparing criminal charges against Christopher Sosa at this hour.

They say he could be arraigned as early as tonight from his hospital bed on charges including fleeing and eluding police and reckless endangerment
