SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY, WBRE/WYOU — When you go to the gym, you typically lace up your shoes, not your gloves. But at Signature Boxing and Fitness, they want to give you a workout like no other.
“You’re getting a really fast-moving, fat-burning workout. It’s a high-calorie-burning workout,” Signature Boxing and Fitness coach/boxer Isaac Jones said.
When you put your boxing gloves on, it’s more than just a workout, It’s also a great stress reliever.
“You feel so much better afterwards. Sometimes it just relieves everything built up,” boxer Linda Allen said.
Boxing has a number of great health benefits, and it also can help people fighting diseases like Parkinson’s.
“Medical studies are showing intense exercise actually slows the progression of the disease down. Everything that a boxer trains to do helps the symptoms of Parkinson’s,” Rock Steady Boxing Kathy Reap said.
Signature Boxing and Fitness is one of the only facilities of its kind in our area.
“Everything from boxing, kickboxing, self-defense, fitness, Zumba, yoga. A one-stop shop for everyone to come,” Signature Boxing co-owner AJ Hiller said.
And the benefits pay off.
”Quick results is always something that everybody wants and this can be time-consuming. But if you come here often, if you’re working on the direction you’re given, everything will work out,” Jones said.
