NEPA Council of Boy Scouts Hosts Distinguished Citizens Award Dinner


PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY – (WBRE/WYOU) Inspiring the next generation, that was the goal of an event tonight in Luzerne County.
The 36th annual “Distinguished Citizens Award Dinner” hosted by the “Northeastern Pennsylvania Council of the Boy Scouts” was held tonight at Mohegan Sun Pocono in Plains Township.
Hundreds of people attended the event. It is designed to increase awareness of scouting and raise money.
The boy scouts recognized the McCarthy family, of McCarthy Tire, and Tom Donohue, of Lamar Advertising, with the distinguished citizens award.
The award is given to leaders who serve as role models in the community.

“We’re here to support scouts and scouting we’ve got all these great folks here who are here to help and to make sure we start these youngsters off with a great foundation, and I’m just happy to be apart of that,” said retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General, Francis Wiercinski.
