Nasty Weather Cancels Flights

Avoca, Luzerne County- If you’re supposed to fly before the sun comes up a cancelled sign isn’t what you want to see.
But it was a reality for Josh Banicky of Susquehanna County and his girlfriend Wednesday morning.

The pair was supposed to fly to Newark — and ultimately end up in Nevada — but because of bad weather in New Jersey — they were out of luck.

We were headed to reno, ultimately for a convention to meet my grandparents out there, for the weekend. Not leaving today.” Banicky told Eyewitness News

With their flight scheduled to leave so early — the pair stayed at a hotel by the airport Tuesday night — hoping they would get out.
“We got here and the guy at the desk told us — your flight is cancelled — and they apparently can’t get us out any quicker.” Said Nina Newman of Hancock, NY

For Newman this would have been her first flight.

“I was kinda hoping it would go smooth for my first time but…And I wanted to get there and I guess this cuts our trip a day short.”

As the couple headed back to their hotel… They have been re-booked and will try for better luck Thursday.
