(WBRE/ WYOU)- A local jewelry shop is putting a twist on the big game, by holding a sale that serves a helping hand.
Murphy jeweler’s annual “Soup-er Bowl Sale” benefits St. Patrick’s Soup Kitchen in Pottsville.
Customers who dropped off canned goods and other non-perishable items hours before the game received up to 50% off store items.
Last year, the soup kitchen served 11 thousand meals. They rely on donations and volunteers to make it all happen.
“The people feel like they won because they save up to 50% off. Murphy Jewelers gives back to the local kitchen and a local soup kitchen wins. So it’s a win-win situation no matter what which team you are voting for,” Patrick Murphy, owner of Murphy Jewelers said.
Murphy Jewelers plans to push the filled carts through the streets from their Pottsville location to St. Patrick’s Soup Kitchen.
They’re also asking local businesses to donate.
