KIDDER TOWNSHIP, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Pennsylvania State Trooper tells Eyewitness News that a crash on Interstate 80 has left three dead and multiple injured.
According to state police, the crash occurred at 12:48 a.m. on Interstate 80 mile marker 276. Involved in the crash were two commercial cars and a van, both sustained major damage caused by the impact of the collision.
PSP says one driver, a 34-year-old man from New Columbia, along with two passengers of the van, a 73-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man, both from New Jersey, died in the crash.
State police have told Eyewitness News a total of eight people were involved, five other victims were taken to the hospital for injuries sustained.
As stated in the release troopers believe the driver of the van was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.
Names of the victims will be released at a later date pending next of kin being notified.
The crash is under investigation. Eyewitness News will update with the latest information as it is released.
