PARADISE TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – A significant investment in the Poconos was unveiled Friday morning, and it has leaders of Mount Airy Casino Resort feeling lucky.
A $40 million dollar expansion project has come to life. “It’s so incredibly impressive, it’s so top shelf,” says Chris Barrett, President/CEO, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau.
Mount Airy Casino Resort has added a 20,000 square-foot convention center and ballroom, which holds up to 1,200 people. After leaving the venue, unwind in one of the resort’s 100 new guest rooms.
“Whenever you spend $40 million dollars, you want to make sure it’s pretty spectacular,” smiles Todd Greenberg, COO/General Manager, Mount Airy Casino Resort.
Although this is a brand-new modern facility, it was designed to have a rustic ‘Pocono’ feel. “So if you look, everything’s autumn-type colors. It’s organic,” Greenberg adds.
Chris Barrett, President/CEO of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, believes the space surpasses venues in major cities. He adds, “the Pocono Mountains has not been known as a meeting and convention destination in many many decades, but this puts us back on the map.”
Construction took two years. So you can bet, finally cutting the ‘grand opening’ ribbon felt like hitting the jackpot.
Owner Lisa DeNaples and her father Louis say the sales teams are hard at work booking events, and the response has already “exceeded their expectations’.
