Mother & Son Share Incredible Weight-Loss Stories

EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Chips, soda, Dunkin Donuts, and more chips.

That was 60-year-old Rosa Estevez’s daily diet.

“I went to the doctor and he told me I was on the borderline of diabetes and high cholesterol,” says Rosa Estevez of Pocono Summit.

She knew it was time for change.

Rosa and her son, Ernesto, decided to give ‘The Biggest Winner’ a try. It’s a six month weight-loss challenge at Lehigh-Valley Pocono.

“I was skeptical at first, because I had seen they were offering an I-Pad as a prize,” Ernesto Estevez laughs.

They quickly learned it was no gimmick.

By the end of the challenge, Rosa shed 61 pounds. Ernesto also had amazing results and lost more than 30 pounds.

“I look at the mirror and i kiss the mirror. I say ‘oh my gosh’ Now I see a beautiful woman in there,” Rosa adds.

The mother and son team made a complete lifestyle change, not only losing an incredible amount of weight but eating a lot healthier.

“This is all I want, to just see people love themselves. Like a flower bud that’s getting ready to open and it’s not quite there yet and you just want to give it a little more sunlight and nutrients. And to me it was very moving because it was a significant change,” says Dr. Musa Tangoren, Founder/Director of The Biggest Winner.

Rosa and Ernesto admit that ‘significant change’ didn’t come easy. Looking better on the outside started with first taking a look inside.

Rosa explains, “you have to do it for you, not for nobody.”

Together, this mother and son lost nearly 100 pounds and gained an unbreakable bond.

The Estevez’s won the challenge and took home those I-Pad’s they were at first so skeptical about.

The next installment of ‘The Biggest Winner’ kicks off next Tuesday, March 28th.
