(WBRE/ WYOU)- There are all different ways for parents to bond with their kids.
In schuylkill county a mother and daughter bonding through a competition.
“A mother daughter duo in Tower City are competing for a crown. But they aren’t competing against each other. They are competing together.”
Meet Lauren and Laila Shutt. They both hold state titles in their division for “Miss United States Agriculture”.
“Now is the time to compete with her. While mom is still cool. There is going to come a time when she is a teenager that mom isn’t going to be cool,” Lauren Shutt said.
Her daughter first competed in the “Tiny division” last year and took second place, but took the state title home this year in the “Future division”.
“It helped her speaking and being around people,” Lauren said.
When her mom found out about the organization’s “Elite division” for women 31 and older, she submitted a photo and ended up taking home the title.
“Mom looks pretty in her dresses,” Laila said.
They are one of the first to enter as a mother daughter duos.
“If we would bring home a national title from Florida to Pennsylvania that would be pretty cool,” Lauren said.
They’re also in the “People’s Choice” category where anyone can vote. There will be two awards given in that category. One for the older competitors and one for the younger girls.

Winners will be revealed at the national competition on June 21 and 22.
