More than a dozen forced from burning apartment building


Old Forge, Lackawanna County, (WBRE/WYOU)  More than  a dozen people are forced out of a burning apartment building in Old Forge this morning.

   The fire broke out in the apartment building on Oak Street in the borough around 2am.  The first on the scene, Old Forge Police Officers who began beating on doors to wake people and get them out of the building.  Officials say two officers are responsible for alerting a sleeping couple on the second floor, and getting them  out safely. 17 people in all have been displaced by the fire.  One person was taken to the hospital, there’s no word on why, or their condition.

  The Red Cross is assisting firefighters and victims.
