(WBRE/WYOU-TV) What could be sweeter than chocolate and wine especially when the pairing helps local businesses?
Eyewitness News Reporter Anja Whitehead takes us to the streets of Montrose as preparations are underway for its “Chocolate and Wine Festival.”
“There’s all smiles during the day of the festival. It’s a really nice time to be out in town, with a glass of wine, enjoying the day with your friends.” the community of Montrose is coming together with music, flower crowns, wine, and chocolate!” Said Tom Follert, President of Montrose Chocolate and Wine Festival
“We give back to the organizations that really support the foundation of our community. The money raised from the festival goes to non-profits in the area including the Susquehanna County Library and the United Fire Company” Added Follert, “In 11 years we have raised over 200,080 dollars. We’re hoping this will be a big year for us and we’ll top that 300,000 dollar mark.”
There will be much more than just chocolatiers sharing their goodies. Business owners love the opportunity to give back to the community that gave them so much.
“That’s what it’s all about, getting people together, first of all, you get a lot of people who haven’t seen each other and it does go back to the community,” Said Jan Donato, of Hazel’s Gourmet Brownies.
And if the wine, chocolate, and festivities weren’t enough, there will be live music — with singers and songwriters sharing their talents, throughout the day!
“I usually have to go out of the area to play. So, I’m really excited to get the opportunity to play in my hometown so it’s good for people to support (it), “Noted Alex Creamer, Singer-Songwriter.
