A Monroe County couple charged in the death of their child is facing trial.
Christian Tuliszewski is facing a homicide charge. Samantha Defrancesca is facing a third-degree murder charge. Both parents are charged with endangering the welfare of children in connection with the death of their baby at their home in May of 2018.
Investigators say the baby died from asphyxia while in the care of Tuliszewski. They say he sent threatening text messages to Defrancesca, saying was going to smother the baby.
The couple waived their hearing today, moving it along to commonwealth court. The district attorney says that could be good for both sides.
“It’s advantageous to the Commonwealth because we don’t have to present any testimony now and can wait to a later date to do that. Once we have more information as it flows forward in the continuing investigation in this case,” Monroe County District Attorney E. David Christine said.
The couple will next appear in court on July 24th.
