A Monroe County man admitted to killing two of his neighbors on Monday. Garry Flyte confessed to killing his neighbors.Jeffrey Place and Place’s son, Steven Powell.
in court, Flyte told the victim’s family he doesn’t know why he did it.
It happened on Meixell Valley Road in Eldred Township in March of last year.
After he shot the men and their dog – Flyte went back to his home and called 9-1-1.
At the time Flyte told investigators voices in his head told him to do it. Flyte plead guilty but mentally ill to the murders. That means his mental illness explains but doesn’t excuse what he did.
Some of the victim’s family spoke in court about how they can never forgive him .
The judge sentenced Flyte to two back-to-back life sentences.
