CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV) A food pantry in the west end of Monroe County that serves about 300 families a month is looking for donations.
Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network or PVEN is very low on staple foods like tuna, cereal, mac and cheese, and pasta. With summer fast approaching they worry with kids being home from school that if they don’t get help to restock the shelves soon they may not be able to meet their needs. The pantry does five distributions a month so they’re looking for donations or perhaps if a local business is willing to run a food drive.
“With our donations, we’re actually critically low. We do receive food from the state, we are part of the emergency food assistance program so we do receive certain items from the state but it’s not complete meals, it’s not a weeks’ worth of food where we can help our families,” Said Hope Christman, Director PVEN Food Pantry.
The director says this is a little early to be low on food as normally the summer months are a challenge to keep the shelves stocked, if you’d like to help with donations call 570-992-3136 or email pven.director@gmail.com
