WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — This week marks two years since a Wilkes-Barre woman died from an intentionally set fire at her Wyoming Street home.

Family and friends of Laurie Merritt gathered Friday night to celebrate the life of the 51-year-old mail carrier.

They followed Laurie’s footsteps and greeted the familiar faces at hundreds of homes along the two-mile mail route in Wilkes-Barre.

The fire was ruled arson, but investigators have not determined if it was a homicide, and no one has been charged.

Laurie’s loved ones said domestic violence likely played a role in her death.

Eyewitness News first told you in February that detectives are trying to access information on Laurie’s iPhone.

District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis said Apple is not cooperating with law enforcement.
