PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) Some volunteers got together Friday to help feed thousands of people in Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties.
“Hunger Heroes” gathered today at Mohegan Sun Pocono in Plains Township to prepare 75,000 meals in one hour.
340 employees from Metz Culinary Management prepared 1250 packages per minute to accomplish the goal.
The meals will go to needy children and families throughout the Wilkes-Barre, Scranton Area.
Jeff Metz, is the President and CEO of Metz Culinary Management, Inc. “We have all of our managers here from all over the country and you can hear the excitement. It’s really awesome right now.”
John Scialabba, District Manager, Metz Culinary Management, Inc. added “Teamwork and commitment. Commitment and knowing that we’re feeding the needy. This is what we do every day, so it’s really from the heart.”
Metz’s initiative is part of the feeding children everywhere program.
Nearly 500- thousand volunteers with the program have packaged more than 75 million meals for hungry people across the country and around the world since 2010.
