Meet the animals of Griffin Pond Animal Shelter

SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – If you are looking to add a furry friend to your family, there is a special adoption event coming up in Lackawanna County.

Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in South Abington Township is over capacity with the number of animals in their shelter.

“We have about over 60 dogs and about 80 cats. We don’t obviously like to turn away any animals,” Jacob Torba, the shelter’s fundraiser coordinator, said.

With several dozen animals looking for homes, they are hosting an “out of the kennel” adoption event at the Shoppes at Montage. Pet seekers will get a chance to meet the animals.

“The animals are definitely completely different outside of their kennels. Their personality comes out more so you can kind of get to know them when they are out and about in public,” Torba explained.

If you are interested, the adoption event will be Saturday, January 19th at Plow and Hearth at the Shoppes at Montage from 11am to 2pm. The Griffin Pond Animal Shelter is open every day from 12pm-4pm, except Tuesdays.
