SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) March 15th marks a big day for medical students across the station.
Friday is ‘Match Day’ and at noon students in the nation found out where they will continue their medical training.
98 students at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine got that surprise Friday. Family and friends were there to celebrate the moment. Letters that fell from balloons revealed a hospital accepting them for their residencies.
“My number one choice was Philadelphia and I got a program that I wanted to go to. I am beyond words, I am beyond happy right now. I am just so excited,” said Jordan Chu, Residency acceptance at Saint Christopher Hospital.
Of the 98 students, 34 of them will have their residencies in Pennsylvania.
