LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – The driver of a car that crashed into an ambulance in Luzerne County earlier this year has been sentenced.

Investigators say Lawrence Morgan of Nanticoke was driving under the influence when he hit a Greater Pittston Regional Ambulance. The crash happened on Route 315 in Laflin in January 2018.

The patient who was being transported at the time, Margaret Milewski, 87, later died. Two ambulance personnel were also injured in the crash.

Morgan was sentenced on Thursday to spend up to six months in prison. He will also have to serve four years probation and pay nearly $200,000 in restitution.
