DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Hillary for Pennsylvania Campaign is hosting more than a dozen delegate send-off parties across the state tonight.  A group of her supporters gathered in Luzerne County to celebrate her choice for VP, and to prepare for the DNC.  Eyewitness News reporter Haley Bianco was there to hear what local and state representatives think about her choice and the upcoming convention.

“Hillary is the most qualified person to ever run for president,” said Bob McDonald, 120th State House District candidate.

The Luzerne County Hillary for Pennsylvania group celebrated together as Clinton announced her running mate, Senator Tim Kaine.

“I think that Senator Kaine is a great choice. I think he marks off everything that she needs,” said State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski, a Clinton Supporter.

“Kaine is a great pick,” said McDonald.

Pennsylvania democrats are excited about Clinton’s choice, describing the VP pick as the most important decision of her campaign.

“I think it’s a great team, a strong team,”said Pashinski.

Representatives at the party are getting ready for the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

“It’s in Pennsylvania, we should all step in and get involved,” said McDonald.
“I’m excited to be a part of it,” said Pashinski.

Local volunteers are recruiting community members to join in the support efforts, by signing up for the phone bank and working voter registration events.

“Together we are so much stronger, and we feel we have a job to do,” said Debbie Noon, local campaign volunteer.

“I’m behind her 100-percent,” said Pashinski.

The Democratic National Convention starts Monday and ends Thursday in Philadelphia.
