All three county buildings in the area have been evacuated. Dogs are searching the building. Crews were called to the scene around nine this morning. The courthouse is expected to re-open at 2 p.m. Some employees are being sent to the King’s College gym.
“We’re in an emergency situation here at the courthouse, we’re in the process of reviewing it at this time. I want to say the courthouse has been evacuated, the courthouse annex has been evacuated, and the domestic relations building has also been evacuated. The Wilkes-Barre police department is on the scene, the fire department was here almost immediately, and our Luzerne county sheriff’s department is also working on this matter as well.”
Question: We keep hearing bomb threat, can you elaborate on that at all?
“I can’t confirm that at this time. All I can say is there is an emergency situation. We’re hoping to have the buildings back open around 2 p.m. today, but we’re going to take it one step at a time,” said David Pedri, Luzerne County Manager.
