SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV) A patriotic tradition that disappeared for a few years is back on track in Lackawanna County.
The Armed Forces luncheon was held today at the Hilton Scranton and Conference Center.
Some 500 local military and community members filled the venue.
The guest speaker said while it’s important to recognize the service and sacrifice of our military men and women it’s also important for the National Guard to connect with the community
“I think it’s important in the national guard to be in touch with the community and to have contact with veterans organizations and that’s what we’re doing here. We’re part of the community and we’re proud of what we do.” Col. Edward Little, Commander PA Army National Guard 55th Brigade.
Thursday’s luncheon is held ahead of Saturday’s annual Armed Forces parade in downtown Scranton.
