FOREST CITY, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) After 105 years this is a bitter-sweet week for a local business.
From paint to lumber it’s all on sale inside Franceski Lumber Company. But now, after 105 years it’s time to close the doors.
“This is a very hard pill to swallow,” said Joe Franceski, owner. Franceski is the third generation owner. His grandfather opened the doors in 1913 as an entrepreneur.
Franceski never thought in the ’90’s he would own and manage the family business. Since, he has tried to keep the doors open. Franceski is ready to retire and with no buyer willing to take over his family’s years of hard work he says its time to leave.
The store is now having a retirement sale of 10-30 percent off everything.
