Loyalsock Township Social Studies teacher named 2018 PA Teacher of the year


HERSHEY, DAUPHIN COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – An 11 year veteran of teacher at Loyalsock Township High School in Lycoming County has been named Pennsylvania’s 2018 Teacher of the year.

Jennifer R. Wahl, who teaches social studies, learned of the honor Monday during the SAS Institute annual professional development conference in Hershey.

Wahl was one of 12 finalists from around the state based on nominations from students, parents, peers and members of the community.

As a Teacher of the Year, Wahl will travel around the state meeting with, and collaborating with, other educators.

Education Secretary Pedro A. Rivera noted that “…I think Jennifer has wonderfully proved herself to not only be an extraordinary educator, but an individual who has cultivated a supportive community for students to achieve.”

The announcement also got a congratulations from Governor Tom Wolf hos so stated “Our students can only succeed when we have inspired teachers behind them, motivating them to achieve.”
