Locals remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

POCONO MANOR, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Celebrations are being held around the country in honor of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday.

Locallly, there were numerous events scheduled for Monday. In Monroe County, there was a prayer breakfast at Full Gospel Holiness Church of God in Christ in Pocono Manor.

The people who attended the breakfast celebrated the memory and legacy of Dr. King.

“We’re hoping that this will grow each year, that we will show that Dr. Martin Luther King, his dream is still alive and we’re trying to make it a realty for everybody,” Elder Leanon Trawick, a pastor at the church, said.

Dr. King was assassinated in Memphis in 1968.
