MAYFIELD, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Pierogies are on sale at Saint John’s Russian Orthodox Hall in Lackawanna County. The sale has been going on for about 50 years.

The potato and cheese treats are made with a secret recipe from Poland and are perfect for those who don’t eat meat on Ash Wednesday  or on Friday’s during Lent.

“All religions, Orthodox and Catholic, and also Protestants, we have a local following here, all our people, all local people come here for pierogie, and they really like them,” Randy Horhutz said.

The sale on Hill Street at Saint John’s Hall goes until 4pm on Wednesday.
