SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)  State leaders and lawmakers say they’re hoping to avoid another budget impasse later this year.

Secretary of Aging Teresa Osborne and State Representative Eddie Day Pashinski were in Scranton Thursday morning.

They were raising awareness for Meals on Wheels.

That agency had to voluntarily reduce salaries and even had layoffs because of the recent 266  day budget impasse.

Both leaders say they hope democrats and republicans will be able to work together to solve the issues before the next budget deadline approaches.

The new budget goes into effect Easter Sunday.
