DRUMS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) Students at the keystone job corps center in Luzerne County gathered for a day of special events to mark the day of peace. The I-Team Andy Mehalshick takes us there!
It’s called the march for peace. Hundreds of students at Keystone Jobs Corps center are trying to send a message– there is no need for violence. The center located near Hazleton sets a day aside each year to talk about peace and what has to be done to make it happen in our communities.
Many of the students here told me they are watching closely the recent violence between law enforcement and some members of the minority community.. They fear the country is going back in time to the civil rights clashes of the 1960’s.
Law enforcement was also hear to talk about peace and how it can be achieved in the entire community.
Many of the folks here say peace day should be everyday and hope the message they are sending will spread far beyond the job corps center.
