HAMLIN, WAYNE COUNTY– Ritter’s Farm Markets has come a long way. While the business now boasts two, large-scale farmer’s market shops, as well as a winery, it started with just a wheelbarrow, and a lot of determination.
“We had an extra wheelbarrow lying around,” Ian Ritter told Eyewitness News. “My grampy and my dad, they would pick blueberries and sell ’em on the side of the road.”
Today at Ritter’s stores, you can get a lot more than just blueberries. The farm sells plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, baked goods, jams, jellies, ciders, wine, and much more. The Ritters say that all of their products fly off the shelves, especially the wine!
“We bottle about 1,000 bottles a week between the ciders and wine,” Ian said.
If you’re ready to stock up on all of these goodies, but at a loss when it comes to a good recipe, Ian’s wife Kimberly’s got you covered! She’s currently finishing up the second book of her “Farm to Table Fabulous” series!
“The book is really just about encouraging people to get back around the table, the way it used to be when we were kids,” Kimberly told Eyewitness News, “You know, nostalgic, when you’d invite your neighbors over on a random weeknight.”
