KINGSTON TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Eyewitness News often reminds you to bring your pets inside when the weather gets this cold, but these frigid temperatures aren’t just dangerous for cats and dogs.

The Lands at Hillside Farms in Luzerne County is making sure its animals are safe.

The staff uses heaters to prevent water bowls from freezing.

When it comes to shelter, they prefer to let the animals use their natural instincts, but can’t take any chances when temperatures dip into single digits, so they brought them into the barn.

“I think we made it look really easy,” said Sierra Krohnemann.  “They were very difficult to catch.  You’d be surprised how fast a sheep is!”

If you’re someone who actually enjoys this arctic blast, the dairy store is still open because it’s never too cold for ice cream.
