(WBRE/WYOU-TV)    A Luzerne County Jury finds Preston Bonnett guilty of Second and Third Degree Murder and arson in the deaths of three brothers in a Laflin fire in 2017.

According to Lead I-Team Reporter Andy Mehalshick who is in the courtroom Preston Bonnett and his family lashed out after the guilty verdict, claiming it’s a racist court.

Bonnett was on trial for the fire that killed three young brothers– 16-year-old Erik Dupree, 12-year-old Devon Major and 7-year-old Ezekiel Major on the night of October 25th.

The jury got the case at 10:20 Tuesday morning.

In closing arguments, Assistant District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce reminded the jury that Erik Dupree named his killer when he called 911 that night in October of 2017 and said Preston Bonnett was on the back porch of the house. Minutes later the house was on fire.

But as the defense made its case to the jury saying the fire was caused by a faulty heater or careless smoking.

The I-Team’s Andy Mehalshick is in the courtroom and will have reaction to verdict tonight on Eyewitness News.
