Joe Biden announces 2020 presidential campaign

News

(WBRE/WYOU) – Following months of speculation, former Vice President and Scranton native Joe Biden announces he will seek the Democratic nomination for president in 2020.

Biden made the announcement in a campaign video released early Thursday morning.

In the video, the former vice president says “the core values of our nation are at stake.”  This is the 76-year-old’s third run for the White House.

Biden’s run faces some early challenges after several women recently described unwelcome physical contact from the former vice president.

He is now part of a crowded field of at least 20 major candidates seeking the Democratic nomination.

Biden, who already leads in early polls for the nomination, will hold a rally in Pittsburgh next week, followed by trips to four key early-voting states.
