JIM THORPE, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local woman publishes her first children’s book. Here’s the plot twist, she’s 97-years-old.
Flora Colletti Stenberg lives in a world of imagination. That’s why at the age of 97, she completed her first book.
“I’m a dreamer,” she said. “Everything to me is fairytale-ish. I never grew up.”
It’s a dream she had for more than a half century.
“I said, I could draw. I can draw well, so that’s when I started it, but it’s nothing like the one I have now…” Colletti Stenberg said. “Then I started at 93, the full book at 93.”
Many consider her an inspiration. Flora’s words of advice…
“I want everyone to know when you’re older you can do things,” she said. “If you’re creative and you have that in your heart, do it. And make your mind up to be disciplined.”
Which is what Flora is doing, as she continues to chase her dreams.
“Time to begin something else,” she says. “I’m never going to stop!”
