The Schuylkill County Commissioners and the contractor involved in that demolition project in Tremont responded Monday saying they are not responsible for any damage.
The property in question is located on East Main Street in Tremont.
The owner of the property–Donna Carl- claims that the contractor. hired by Schuylkuill County–damaged her building while he was tearing down a dilapidated building next to hers in July of 2014.
Carl claims the damage to her property is close to $50,000..
On Monday the county contractor says the allegations are simply not true.
Vincent Madonna of Madonna Enterprises told the I-Team’s Andy Mehalshick that he thinks the claim is a complete farce. He claims the county lived up to the contract.
County Commissioner Frank Staudenmeier said “It appears to me that this is something the insurance companies need to talk about and bring it to a resolve.”
George Halcovage Jr., Schuylkill County Commissioner added
“When there is a lawsuit filed we have to be respectful of both sides when attorney’s are involved basically we should not have a comment. We allow insurance companies in these situations to negotiate with each other.”
Both sides say they can prove their case.
It appears a jury will have the final say.
