Hunger Action Day Marked in Central PA

News

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) Thursday is national ‘Hunger Action Day’.
Thursday morning a food bank in Williamsport held a breakfast for its donors and volunteers.

It’s all a part of ‘Hunger Action Month’ … An initiative to help stop hunger in local communities.

The ‘Central Pennsylvania food bank’ will be wearing orange for the whole month to bring awareness.

More than 30 supporters came out to learn what they can do to fight hunger in the 13 counties they help serve.

Eric Orndorff, the Regional Director, Central PA Food Bank told Eyewitness News
“We have certainly seen a lot more volunteers and we see an increase of donations and we need that to continue to work towards closing the meal gap which means nearly doubling what we do with our partners.”

The initiative  helps spark conversation to donate time and food before the approaching holiday seasons.

The ‘Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’ in Williamsport will be finishing their expansion project in November – which will offer more food storage in their facility.
