LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – The snow is putting a damper on at least one sign of the coming spring.

The horses are returning to the Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono the first time for the 2019 racing season, but only a few making it in on Friday.

The trotters will soon begin the 54th year of racing at Pocono. One trainer brought in two horses, one of them is called Swiss Platinum.

“Swiss likes to jog when there’s no other horses out there, that was why were were hoping to get on the track already, so he could be done,” Linda Kakaley said.

Qualifying races are set for Tuesday, 3/5, Thursday, 3/7 and then every Wednesday after that.. Races run through late November.
