WRIGHT TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) Competing for a cause while hundreds watched!
The 11th annual Hoops for Hope went down Friday night at Crestwood High School in Mountain Top. This annual community gets together is more than just a three-point shot or a lay-up. Six teams are driving to the basket for a cause that touches so many.
Each year the home of the comets raises money for the American Cancer Society. The non-profit even has its own team in the mix. Crestwood senior Joe Graybeal and his team finishing second in the tournament.
“It’s just having fun with all my friends and getting to play and play the game we and just having fun and helping people,” said Graybeal.
Each year this fundraiser generates thousands of dollars, this year they raised $3,200. Those not participating in the game have a chance at scoring a different kind of basketball. All of these are raffled off. Money for shirts and bracelet purchases are also donated.
Organizers will present the check at this year’s NEPA Relay for Life on Sat. May 18-th at PNC Field.
