Helping The Homeless Stay Warm

News

POTTSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Homeless people in Schuylkill County won’t have to sleep outside in this bitter cold.

The county’s first and only overnight shelter is keeping people warm this winter.

Servants To All in downtown Pottsville provides computers, food, and warm clothes to the homeless.

The organization teamed up with United Presbyterian Church to open the overnight shelter.

“No county should have 320 homeless people that are not being served,” said Executive Director Albert Nastasi.  “Before we came and opened this shelter, a lot of these people were staying in the woods, abandoned buildings, their own cars a lot of times.”

Servants To All is located at 4 South Centre Street in Pottsville.  Anyone who needs help can stop by Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to sign up for the overnight shelter.
