Helping Seniors Stay Safe While Walking and Driving

(WBRE/WYOU-TV)   Helping senior citizens stay safe is the focus of a program in Lycoming County.

A senior lifestyle injury prevention class or SLIP was held at the YMCA in Williamsport Wednesday morning for senior citizens.

The focus of the class was centered on senior driving and pedestrian safety. Staff from UPMC Susquehanna Outpatient Physical Therapy Group came out to lead the session.

“The healthier you are the more active you are the more independent you’re going to be then the longer you’re going to stay on your own out and about in the community being independent independence is a great thing which is why it’s important to stay healthy and participate in this kind of stuff,”  Debbie Wenner, Occupational Therapy Assist UPMC

The “SLIP” educational program is held on the third Wednesday of each month.
