(WBRE/WYOU-TV) A public hearing was held the Poconos Wednesday to address the controversial plan to bring a drug and alcohol rehab to a golf course in Delaware Water Gap. Eyewitness News Reporter Brianna Strunk was at the meeting.
The owner of Wolf Hollow Golf Course formerly known as Water Gap Country Club applied for a permit change to convert the clubhouse into an in-patient facility with resident housing. The public was allowed to voice their opinions to township supervisors – who will then decide at a later date to approve or deny the application.
The golf course owner says he would keep the course open reducing the number of holes from 18 to 9. Although some neighbors aren’t completely against the proposal – many at this hearing are opposed to it.
Some concerns include home values, security, increased traffic, and rehab guests walking off before their treatment is complete.
