“Grand-Pa Bandit” now in custody

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – The so-called “Grand-Pa Bandit” is now in custody.

Police say this man, David D. Hunter, 53 years of age of the Enfield, CT area, committed ten robberies over a six week time period throughout the country, including one in Luzerne County.

Hunter was located in a casino in eastern Indiana. Currently, David Hunter has been transferred from the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office in Lawrenceburg, Indiana to FBI custody.

Wilkes-Barre Township police say he hit a Dollar General on Kidder Street on June 7th.  Officers say he used a taser and a handgun in the robbery of the business.

The man targeted Dollar Stores and Dollar Generals across the nation.
