(WBRE/WYOU-TV) It’s been a week since the largest manufacturing company in Snyder County unexpectedly closed its doors.
And since then, there has been an outpouring of support from the community for the nearly 1,000 people who lost their jobs.
Eyewitness News Reporter Morgan Parrish has more on a health care provider that’s looking to lend a helping hand

As nearly 1,000 former employees of Wood-Mode walked out of work for the last time last Monday, many had no idea what they were going to do next. And still, don’t.
“It’s a real hardship for the community a lot of people work there a lot of good people work there and it’s been in business for a long time so it’s going to be hard on the community moving forward,” Said Kevin Reigle, Middleburg.
As the community struggles to get back on their feet, local businesses and organizations are stepping in.to Geisinger Health plan has opened a temporary walk-in customer care center for its members at the Susquehanna Valley Mall.
“We felt as a community based-organization we felt it was important to try to provide some outreach and support for the employees that have been displaced,” Said Fanning,
The clinic provides education around people’s benefits, possible career opportunities at Geisinger as well as information for people who may be eligible for family assistance.
“I think it’s a wonderful thing. You never know what’s going to come up so to have it there is very convenient and helpful for people,” Said Ed Shanahan of Danville,
All you have to do is come in and prove that you’re a former Wood-Mode employee, say what kind of services you’re looking for and then you get redirected to the appropriate department.
“Geisinger’s doing a really good job my mom’s in there right now signing life insurance,” Said Kevin Reigle. Reigle tells me his mom worked at Wood-Mode for six years.
“It’s a great thing they’ve done to reach out and come here it’s a great space and help out all the Wood-Mode employees to try and get things together and move forward,” Noted Reigle. Organizers say it’s a simple act of kindness that can help make a difference.
“It seems like when you have a conversation with someone everybody knows somebody that works at wood mode.”

Customer care specialists will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Memorial Day hours are 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 27.
