Fundraiser Will Support Football Players Injured in Crash

News
Pocono Summit, Monroe County – It’s been one month since a violent crash sent three Pocono Mountain East High School football players to hospitals. Two of them
remain hospitalized. The community is rallying to support them with a
fundraiser. It’s Thursday, October 24th at 6p.m. in Pocono Mountain West
High School.

Volunteers spent Thursday organizing prizes and packing
their cars for the Tricky Tray Raffle Fundraiser.
“We’re a tight-knit community and we try to look out
for each other and be there for each other,” said event organizer ToniAnn
Weirich.

The late September crash in Swiftwater rocked the community. The sadness is
lingering. Steve Dienno and Justin Bullock remain hospitalized. Event organizer
Linda Allmond-Frailey said, “The students, they’re trying to get back to
their normal everyday lives but they still think about it.”

Allmond-Frailey and Weirich fist thought they would give the family a card with some money
inside. But then Allmond-Frailey visited the hospital. She learned how serious
the situation was and wanted to donate more than she could do on her own.

She pointed out both boy’s mothers are keeping vigil at hospitals. “I know the moms
lost wages at work. They’re still not back to work,” said Allmond Frailey.

So the friends organized a raffle that they will host at Pocono Mountain West High
School. They collected more than 70 prizes ranging from movie passes to an air
tour and water park tickets.

“I just think that it’s awesome that the community has been so gracious,” said Allmond-Frailey.

Raffle tickets are $1 each or $20 for fifty tickets.
