PECKVILLE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Inspiring people to enjoy the fresh air and support local businesses is the goal of a Free Bike Sharing Program in Lackawanna County.
Spring is in the air, birds are chirping and people are heading outdoors to enjoy the natural wonders of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The Lackawanna Heritage Valley is helping people take in the fresh air with a Free Ride Share Program.
“They get the bike, a helmet, the bike lock and they’re completely free to use,” Justin Topa, Community Engagement and Program Manager at Lackawanna Heritage Valley said. “As long as the bike is returned from the location it was borrowed from.”
The bike share program has stops at 7 local businesses so people can get to know the area they live in.
“There are so many great specialty communities, not only coffee, but cycling and running, and all the other outdoor activities that this area tends to nurture and grow with.” Erich Hunisch, Wholesale and Marketing Director at Electric City Roasting Company said.
