Free Back to School Hair Cuts, Smiles and More!

TOBYHANNA, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV)   A good looking haircut is a must for the first day of school
Children from Kindergarten through 12th grade were given free back-to-school haircuts Thursday outside “The Mountain Center” in Tobyhanna.
“Feeding Families Ministry” teamed up with local hairdressers to make this possible.
Because they didn’t want to turn people away some adults also received haircuts.
Everyone took home a bag filled with toiletries including combs and toothpaste.
“The kids are just lighting up. We had a boy that came in with probably 20 pounds of hair and left with nothing! So, he was absolutely thrilled.” said Diane McFadzean, Founder of Feeding Family Ministry.
“We wanted to help children feel good for school, feel confident. And we want to give back something to the community. Haircuts get expensive, especially when you have lower income.” noted Lana Belcastro, Owner of Perfetto Hair Salon.
At the same time, a Health and Wellness Fair was happening for the Head Start children at “The Mountain Center”.
