(WBRE/WYOU) – Old Forge School Board members voted to remove Frank Scavo as board president according to published reports.

This comes just days after Eyewitness News reported that the Republican came under fire for anti-Muslim social media posts. In an interview on Tuesday, Scavo insisted he is not a racist and apologized for the posts.

Former board Vice President Jenna Shotwell now replaces Scavo as school board president.

Scavo will be on the ballot Tuesday for a special election for the vacant 114th District seat left open after the death of Representative Sid  Michaels Kavulich in October.
