Four Neglected Dogs Found In Days Time

Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County (WBRE/WYOU) – Police are looking into a string of neglected dog cases in Luzerne County.  In all, authorities say they found 4 sickly canines in a 24 hour period.  The dogs were all picked up  in the area of Old River Road, Richmond Avenue, and Catlin Avenue in Wilkes Barre and are now in the care of the SPCA of Luzerne County and an animal abuse investigation is underway.

Officials say the discoveries are cause for concern.  Todd Hevner, of the Luzerne County SPCA, says “what’s alarming about these dogs is that there were four of them. they were brought in at separate times, all from the same immediate area. and we’re not aware of whom is abandoning them or not feeding them. we’re really reaching out to the community and seeking their help.”  He adds it will be a slow process, months even, to bring these animals back to health, but they will be up for adoption once that happens.

They are also offering a $500 reward for anyone with information leading to the people responsible for the abuse or neglect of those dogs.
