Former Ashland doctor sentenced on drug dealing charges

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – A former Schuylkill County doctor will spend up to 15 years in prison on drug charges.

Stephanie Tarapchak of Ashland was sentenced Thursday.

The 47-year-old was found guilty last year of over-prescribing pills from her office.

Jurors found that led to the death of one of her patients, a 52-year-old man.

Tarapchak was also accused of smuggling drugs into the Lackawanna County prison but those charges were dismissed because of a lack of evidence.
